Six-Week Visit

Before you go home with your new baby, you will be asked to make an appointment to see one of your providers six weeks after your delivery.

This six- week appointment marks the end of "involution," or the time it takes your body to return to its pre-pregnancy state.

During this appointment your provider will do an internal exam to be sure the uterus has returned to normal and ask you how you are feeling emotionally as well as physically. Symptoms of postpartum depression are commonly found at this time and your provider will want to be sure you are coping with the big changes in your life. Be sure to talk honestly and express any concerns you may have.

Your provider will also discuss what you plan to use for birth control and give you prescriptions or fittings if needed.

You can discuss your delivery and hospital stay, and your provider will answer any questions you may have.
