If you are planning to become pregnant – or just found out you're having a baby – you should start taking a multivitamin with folic acid, which lowers the risk of birth defects.

A healthy diet is also important to help your baby's growth. Eating right requires regular and nutritional meals that include protein, grains, fruits and vegetables, and milk products. You need to increase your fluid intake while you're pregnant, as well. Eight glasses a day are recommended; vary your liquids with plenty of water plus milk, fruit juice and vegetable juice.
