Managing Flu Symptoms

Contact Us

If you have the flu or flu-like symptoms it's important to follow the steps below for recovery:

  1. Stay at home and rest.
  2. Wash your hands frequently and avoid close contact with other people.
  3. Drink plenty of water and other clear liquids to prevent dehydration.
  4. Unless you've been advised otherwise due to another health condition, treat fever, cough or body aches with over-the-counter medications.
  5. If you are pregnant, get very sick (significant or worsening shortness of breath, persistent or worsening fever, a worsening cough or increase in sputum production, or chest discomfort with breathing), or have a medical condition that puts you at risk of flu complications (for example: chronic lung disease, such as emphysema or asthma, a compromised immune system, significant heart disease), call your doctor. You may need an antiviral medicine to treat the flu.
