Local Help Available for Navigating the Health Insurance Marketplace

Most people living and working in the U.S. must have health coverage in 2014.  Health and Social Service providers in the Monadnock Region are working collaboratively to provide you with up-to-date information and enrollment assistance.

You are already covered if you have Medicare, a job-based plan, a plan you bought yourself, COBRA, retiree coverage, TRICARE, or VA Health Coverage.  Most NH Medicaid beneficiaries are also covered.  If you are a current NH Medicaid beneficiary and have questions about your coverage and your transition to NH Medicaid Care Management (MCM), please contact NH DHHS at their MCM Enrollment Call Center at 1-888-901-4999.

If you are uninsured or want to compare plans, the following options are available to help you:

  1. Visit www.healthcare.gov to compare plans and/or enroll on-line;
  2. Complete and submit a paper application (available for download at www.healthcare.gov). If you cannot download a paper application, pick one up from one of sites listed below;
  3. Call 1-800-318-2596, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, to talk to an enrollment specialist; or,
  4. Contact a certified Navigator, Marketplace Assister or Application Counselor in the Monadnock Region: Planned Parenthood, 1-866-476-1321; Monadnock ServiceLink Resource Center, 357-1922 or 1-866-634-9412; or Cheshire Medical Center/Dartmouth-Hitchcock Keene, 354-5454 x2137. Additional contacts and locations will be added in the future.

Please note, assistance from certified, unbiased Navigators/Assisters/Counselors is available to all at no cost.

Before going on-line to enroll or meeting with a certified Navigator/Assister/Counselor gather the following information: 1) Social Security Numbers or legal immigrant document numbers; 2) employer and income information); 3) Policy numbers for any current health insurance plans; 4) a completed employer coverage tool (available on-line or for pick up from a collaborating organization); and, if available, 5) 2012 tax return information.

The following collaborating organizations will have paper applications available: Monadnock ServiceLink Resource Center, Cheshire Medical Center/Dartmouth-Hitchcock Keene, The River Center, Monadnock Community Hospital, Southwestern Community Services, Planned Parenthood, Keene Senior Center, Keene Public Library, and Keene Housing.
