1st Quarter 2012 Employee Awards

Cheshire Medical Center/Dartmouth-Hitchcock Keene recently recognized outstanding staff members with the First Quarter 2012 Presidents' Service Excellence and Leadership Awards. The recipients of the Presidents' Service Excellence Award were Kristin Mitchell, Emergency Department Tech and Health Unit Coordinator, and Joan Fletcher, LPN, Cardiology Department. Jacala "Jackie" Mills, Director of Behavioral Health, received the Leadership Award.

Presidents' Service Excellence Award

The Presidents' Service Excellence Award recognizes employees nominated by their co-workers as those who exemplify extraordinary service to others, characterized by compassion, courtesy, responsiveness to the needs of others and a positive team attitude.

Kristin Mitchell, Emergency Department Tech and Health Unit Coordinator

Kristin Mitchell (photo at right) has been a member of the Emergency Department Team since 2002. Her dedication to the department is evident in how readily she crosses between her two roles as a Tech and a Health Unit Coordinator to meet the needs of patients and families. Every day and in every situation, Kristin models kindness, compassion and responsiveness. In the midst of our busiest and most chaotic times, Kristin has a smile on her face, a calm attitude, and is quick to say, "What can I do for you?" She is equally kind and considerate to patients, visitors and staff. Kristin is proactive and dedicated to doing the right thing at all times, is a pleasure to work with and makes a real difference in the success of the department.

Joan Fletcher, LPN, Cardiology

Joan Fletcher, LPN, (photo at right) has worked in the Cardiology Department for 11 years as the phone triage nurse. She manages incoming nursing calls for five physicians and medical providers with grace, compassion and diligence. She consistently does whatever is within her capability to ensure our patients get the best care possible. Joan demonstrates courtesy and respect for her patients, listening to each patient as a unique individual. Her critical thinking skills are a major attribute to her role. She is extremely intelligent, kind in discussion and compassionate with listening. Joan takes immense pride in the role she maintains with excellence in the office and patients often praise her for going above and beyond to help them. Joan's team members receive the same courtesy, respect and dedication from her that she provides to her patients.

Leadership Award

The Leadership Award recognizes employees who demonstrate outstanding leadership qualities with excellence in caring, character, commitment, competence and communication.

Jacala "Jackie" Mills, Director of Behavioral Health

Jackie Mills is an outstanding leader who is highly regarded by staff members and colleagues for the many contributions she has made to Behavioral Health Services and to Cheshire Medical Center/Dartmouth-Hitchcock Keene. Her exceptional communication and facilitation skills have resulted in process improvements both at a department and organizational level. Under Jackie’s effective leadership, the centralized staffing office was developed and implemented, allowing the inpatient areas to staff more effectively. Jackie has also provided strong leadership in improved patient safety. Her thoughtful approach and willingness to always be part of the solution has made her a positive team member and a valuable resource for many.
