Champions Moment – January 2014

Jocelyn FrainJocelyn Frain is from Hinsdale and became a Champion on October 18th, 2012 when she made the pledge to live, share, model and inspire the Healthy Monadnock 2020 initiative. Jocelyn is the Program Manager for the Monadnock Family Services (MFS) InShape program.

Jocelyn became a Healthy Monadnock 2020 Champion because she believes that “EVERYONE in our community deserves access, information and resources to increase and maintain healthy lifestyles”. “In my role at Monadnock Family Services (MFS), I support inclusion for all members of our community. I know the benefits I’ve gained both in my physical and mental health through a healthy diet and regular exercise and I believe everyone deserves access to these empowering tools.”

In her role as Program Manager for the InSpape program at MFS, Jocelyn has made great strides in helping improve the health of the Monadnock region. “In my role as a health mentor for InSHAPE, I work as a personal trainer sharing my experience and passion for exercise with many in our community. I also serve as the Wellness Committee coordinator at MFS, newly formed this year, working to improve our organizational wellness as Organizational Champions of Healthy Monadnock. I have also most recently presented information on exercise and mental health at fellow Organizational Champion, CedarCrest Center for Children with Disabilities in Keene as a guest speaker for their staff wellness day; and even signed up more Champions!”

After joining as a Champion herself and being an active part of an Organizational Champion, MFS, Jocelyn feels that the Champions Program will have a huge impact on the health of the Monadnock region. “The most important tool is knowledge, and the Champions program is providing the knowledge everyone needs to make healthier choices in their homes, in their workplaces and in their community”, she says. “It is exciting to know we are all working together towards this goal, a sense of community, of not doing this hard work alone, is priceless.”

Jocelyn would like to invite EVERYONE to become Healthy Monadnock 2020 Champions!  She feels that “wellness is not only for those who can afford gym memberships or expensive foods”.  She believes that “we can all make small changes in our daily lives to move more or eat a little differently to increase our personal wellness”. “Make the commitment; you are worth it!”
