Recognition 5K to Support Veterans
Submitted by Organizational Champion, Comfort KeepersComfort Keepers is partnering with Southwestern Community Services (SCS) to host Recognition 5K on Veterans Day. All proceeds will support the SCS SSVF.
The SCS SSVF (Supportive Services for Veteran Families) program will begin October 1, 2013 and will serve annually approximately 55 Veteran households on the Western side of NH. The primary function of this program is housing stabilization. With intensive case management, we will also be able to provide financial supports to include rental assistance, utility assistance, moving costs, child care cost, transportation costs, and emergency housing costs. This is intended to be a temporary (3-month) intensive program to stabilize Veterans in their homes or in new homes.
This worthy organization was picked to partner with Comfort Keepers of Keene and Milford NH to receive proceeds from a 5K Recognition Run/Walk/Wheel. Comfort Keepers is a premier provider of in-home senior care, and assistance to anyone above the age of 18 needing assistance with daily activities, enabling them to stay safely in their own homes. Services include trips to the doctor, reminders to take the right medication at the correct time, help with grocery shopping and meal preparation, transportation, pet care, running errands, light housekeeping, general shopping and all non-medical care that will allow a person to remain as independent as possible and reside in their own home for as long as possible. Comfort Keepers also provides personal care such as bathing, toileting, and transferring- and so much more!
The Recognition Run will be held on November 11, 2013 and will take place prior to the Veterans Day Ceremony in Keene, NH. The 5K will begin at 8:30am after the National Anthem is sung and the Pledge of Allegiance has been delivered. There will be t-shirts and medals as well as food and beverages available and the hope is to raise awareness of Veteran’s needs and support programs that can assist in meeting these needs.
If you are interested in sponsoring this event or volunteering please contact Erin Bruce at Comfort Keepers by e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org or phone 603-352-2227.
