Active Living Events Fall 2012

Kid’s Come First 5K Run & Walkkids come first
The Cheshire YMCA is hosting the second annual ‘Kids Come First’ 5K Run & Walk on Saturday, October 6th! This event is a Tribute to Peter Masiello, a true friend of the Cheshire YMCA who was dedicated to his family and community, who’s integrity, generosity, kindness & sense of humor were felt by all who knew him.

Registration Information: Register online here for the Race Registration Form or please print, complete and sign one form for each participant. Must be registered by SEPT. 22nd to ensure a FREE T-Shirt!

Kids 12 & under: $5; Kids 13-17: $10
Adults 18+: $20; Family Price (2 Adults + 3 Kids): $50

Monadnock Rotary 2012 Wellness Festivalwellness festival

The Monadnock Wellness Festival is an annual event held on Saturday September 29th from 10:00 am – 2:00 pm in downtown Peterborough, NH. This event is designed to bring the community together for a day of celebration focused on health and wellness.  Activities include health screenings, exhibits, live entertainment, healthy food demonstrations, pet wellness seminars and demos, a soup competition, wellness vendors, and lots of fun.  Designed for young and old alike, the festival will run from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm in and around the Town House in historic downtown Peterborough, NH.

The soup tasting and competition will take place behind the Historical Society building from 12:30 to 2:00pm.

This is an important event for the Monadnock Rotary Club as it helps us to meet our mission of community service with a special focus on youth development and health advocacy for people of all ages, locally and internationally. Please come join us!

ramp jamRamp Jam 2012
The Keene Recreation Center in partnership with the Cheshire Coalition for Tobacco Free Communities is hosting their Ramp Jam 2012 at the Keene Skate Park on Gilbo Ave, Keene on Saturday, September 8th from 4:00-6:00 pm. This event is a substance free event, free and open to the public.

Schedule of Events:
4:00-4:15 pm Registration
4:15-4:30 pm Demo
4:30-5:30pm Contest (Skateboards, Skates, Bikes)
5:30-6:00 pm Prizes & Awards
All participants must wear helmets and registration forms can be found at Ted’s Shoe & Sport, The Keene Recreation Center and at the Monadnock Teens website.

The following organizations support this substance free event for teens: Keene Family YMCA, Vision 2020, Cheshire Coalition for Tobacco Free Communities, City of Keene Youth Services, & The Keene Recreation Center.

touch a truckTouch-A-Truck Event

The Touch – A- Truck event put on by The Samaritans, Inc. will take place on Saturday, September 15th,  from 9:00 am – 2:30 pm at the Cheshire Fairgrounds in Swanzey, NH. More than 65 unique and exciting vehicles (heavy equipment, tractors, racecars, rescue vehicles, etc) will be on site for children and adults to enjoy. Local non-profits will be selling food throughout the day.

Admission:
Adults: $7.00
Children: $5.00 and kids under 1 are FREE!
This event benefits the Samaritans suicide prevention and intervention services in the Monadnock Region.

pumpkin mileThe Great Pumpkin Mile

Join us for the Great Pumpkin Mile on Saturday, October 20th  at 8:30 am in downtown Keene! Don’t miss this unbelievably unique opportunity to run through downtown car-free, right past the PUMPKIN TOWER! The first time a race has been part of the world-famous, 8-time world-record-setting event!

Event Details:
Registration in front of the old Keene Middle School beginning at 7:30am.
Start/Finish: Washington Street, in front of Kristin’s Bakery and Retro Music.
Route: From Washington Street, around Central Square (as traffic flows). South on
Main Street to the Roundabout. Around and back up Main Street, ending at the start. Chip Time.
