Cheshire Medical Center/Dartmouth-Hitchcock Keene

Vision 2020 is a community-wide health initiative designed to actively engage the citizens of Cheshire County in the process of becoming the nation's healthiest community by the year 2020. Founded and developed by Cheshire Medical Center in 2006, Vision 2020's activities are now being guided in the community by the Healthiest Community Advisory Board, a group of 30 individuals representing schools, organizations, coalitions and businesses.

The Vision 2020 Update October 2011 booklet (PDF) is a follow-up to the Cheshire County Healthiest Community Plan released in early 2010 title Vision 2020: Engaging Our Community in Health. (PDF). The indicators being used to measure our progress have been updated and there are lots of ideas on how you can get involved.

Lead by a coalition of community partners representing multiple sectors - healthcare, education, private business, municipal and state governments, non-profit agencies, and recreational organizations - five Vision 2020 goals, encompassing a broad spectrum and vision of "health" have been identified:

• Social determinants that influence health
• Education and awareness of healthy lifestyle behaviors
• Healthy eating
• Active living
• Social support networks
