Tests at 41 Weeks
The Non-Stress Test, which takes about 20-30 minutes, assesses your baby’s heart rate and how it changes. You will lie back on a recliner and a fetal monitor will be attached to your abdomen. The baby’s heart rate and movements will be recorded on a long strip of paper. The heart rates of babies increase as they move, and your doctor will assess the results to make sure your baby’s heart rate was high enough and increased with movement.
The Biophysical Profile is an ultrasound that checks how your baby is moving, the amount of amniotic fluid around the baby, the muscle tone, fetal breathing and the number of times the baby moves.
