- Medication Bedside Bar Coding - a patient safety feature which helps insure that the five rights of medication administration are followed:
- the right drug
- to the right patient
- at the right dose
- at the right time
- via the right route of administration
- Monitoring of each patient’s medication profile to maximize medication effectiveness and to minimize adverse outcomes
- Preparation and monitoring of cancer chemotherapy
- IV therapy - preparation of IV medications under sterile conditions
- Patient Controlled Analgesia (PCA) - administration by the patient of injectable medications for the alleviation of pain
- Total Parenteral Nutrition - total feeding by vein
- Pharmacokinetic Monitoring of Drug Therapy - utilizing established practice guidelines and appropriate patient monitoring parameters to maximize drug therapy and minimize medication related adverse outcomes
- Renal dose monitoring - utilizing patient renal (kidney) parameters to insure proper dosing of those medications impacted by changes in renal function
