Clinical Trials

At the Kingsbury Pavilion, board certified physicians in medical oncology, hematology, and radiation therapy are committed to providing quality medical care using the most advanced medically accepted treatments for cancer and related blood diseases.

Our medical oncologists strive to remain at the forefront of new and developing drug research to better serve our patients. They also work closely with physicians who participate in nationally approved research projects, such as those at the Norris Cotton Cancer Center in Hanover, NH.

Of great importance to the Oncology Program is our specially trained oncology nursing staff. Under the direction of our certified oncology nurse leaders, the nursing staff provides for the clinical needs and comfort of both inpatients and outpatients. Most of our nurses are Oncology Nurses Society certified.

Our multidisciplinary cancer committee, with specialists from surgical, medical and radiation oncology, internal medicine, pathology and radiology, family medicine, and dermatology meets regularly to set goals and directives for all cancer care activity on the campus, as well as in the community.

Quality Improvement (QI) activities are an essential component of our cancer care program. The QI projects that are studied and implemented improve the utilization of resources, reduce unnecessary variation in treatment, and improve patient outcomes and patient satisfaction.

The Kingsbury Pavilion is also augmented by extensive home care services and by a Medicare-certified hospice program from Home Health, Hospice, and Community Services. Hospice provides care for terminally ill patients in their homes, nursing homes, or in our hospice room at the Cheshire Medical Center.

Kingsbury Cancer Center 2007 Annual ReportThe Kingsbury Pavilion is certified by the American College of Surgeon (ACOC), Commission on Cancer as an approved cancer program. This designation ensures that our patients will receive comprehensive care with state-of-the-art cancer treatment modalities. The Commission on Cancer requires that a cancer program has a multi-specialty team approach, analyzes practice methods for quality of care, and provides information related to current clinical trials. The Kingsbury Pavilion is among only 25% of hospitals in the country have ACOS accredited cancer programs.
