Cheshire Coalition for Tobacco-Free Communities
The Coalition sponsors an extensive array of treatment programs for those who wish to quit using tobacco, including:
- Free one-on-one counseling
- Assistance with nicotine replacement therapies (patches and gum)
- Tobacco and addiction education
Services are available to everyone and we have special programs for women and youth.
Tobacco Treatment Programs for Adults
"Freedom from Tobacco" sessions are offered several times during the year at our satellite clinic locations in Walpole, Winchester and Island Street in Keene. We also provide support for patients on an individual basis. Discounted nicotine replacement therapies (patches and gum) are available. We also sponsor a monthly support group for individuals who are tobacco-free or trying to be. These services are free for participants.
Women's Tobacco Treatment Program
Tobacco education and assistance is available for patients of the Women’s Health and OB/GYN departments of Cheshire Medical Center/Dartmouth-Hitchcock Keene. One-on-one counseling is available by calling 354-6513 or emailing firstname.lastname@example.org
Tobacco Treatment Program for Youth
Smokeless Saturday: This program is offered primarily for youth who are found in possession of tobacco products, sometimes mandated by the juvenile court system, although any parent or school administrator can refer youth to the program. Smokeless Saturday includes an assessment of the participant's tobacco use, helps to identify trigger situations, and reaffirms the health consequences of using tobacco. Participants learn strategies to recover from nicotine addiction by learning tools to manage withdrawal symptoms and skills to manage stress. For more information about providing Smokeless Saturday sessions in your community, call 354-5454, ext. 2369.
