Baby bottles now BPA free!

baby drinkingThe signs are everywhere these days: “BPA free.” Now, baby bottles are free of the controversial plastics chemical as well. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration recently banned bisphenol A (BPA) from baby bottles and “sippy” cups. Many consumer advocacy groups, such as the National Resources Defense Council, have been pointing out possible harmful effects of BPA for several years, which may include disrupting hormones and triggering other health problems, such as cancer and obesity.

The American Chemistry Council (ACC) defended the safety of BPA, but requested the ban because of what they called confusion among consumers and regulators about whether BPA was found in the bottles and cups.

If you’re worried about whether your baby bottles and cups are BPA free, make sure to look for the “BPA-free” label on the package.
