Learn about your child’s medications
Ever wonder about your child’s medication, such as what the side effects might be or how effective it’s been on other children? To provide more information to parents and doctors about children’s medications, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration’s (FDA’s) Office of Pediatric Therapeutics has created the Pediatric Labeling Information Database, a searchable database of medications studied in children. You can search for information by the product’s commercial or chemical name or by the condition for which it was studied.
The FDA updates the database regularly with information gathered from pediatric studies. Critical information found in the database includes whether the medication was effective in children and important side effects that should be noted. Always consult your child’s doctor before giving or stopping medication.
