A specialty in aging
Geriatrics is a medical specialty. Unlike other specialties that are focused on specific areas of the body (such as cardiology or dermatology) or specific types of diseases (such as oncology or psychiatry), Geriatrics focuses on a stage of life—later life.
If you think you need care
Treatment at the Department of Geriatrics is generally initiated by another physician. Your primary care physician, surgeon, or other specialist requests that we conduct an assessment and offer recommendations. Our geriatricians see patients on an out-patient basis in the clinic as well as patients who are in the hospital.
If you think you would benefit from care in the Department of Geriatrics, talk with your doctor to arrange for a referral.
