2nd Quarter 2012 Presidents' Service Excellence and Leadership Awards

Cheshire Medical Center/Dartmouth-Hitchcock Keene recently recognized outstanding staff members with the Second Quarter 2012 Presidents' Service Excellence and Leadership Awards. The recipients of the Presidents' Service Excellence Award were Gary Hamlin, CBET (Certified Biomedical Equipment Technician), Clinical Engineering and Kim Carey, Health Unit Coordinator, Kingsbury Inpatient Unit. Kimberly Farris, RN, Clinical Leader, Thompson Inpatient Unit and Michele Penna, RN, Clinical Leader, Special Services received the Leadership Award.

Presidents' Service Excellence Award

The Presidents' Service Excellence Award recognizes employees nominated by their co-workers as those who exemplify extraordinary service to others, characterized by compassion, courtesy, responsiveness to the needs of others and a positive team attitude.

Kim Carey, Health Unit Coordinator, Kingsbury Inpatient Unit

As a Health Unit Coordinator for the Kingsbury Inpatient Unit, Kim Carey stands out as a role model for the standards of excellence. She gives 100% effort at all times and has taken the initiative to get additional training so she can help the team in providing efficient, quality patient care. She is quick to help patients and staff, frequently going into patient rooms to provide extra blankets, drinks, and tend to other non-medical needs. When Dietary staff members come to the floor, she answers questions with a smile and a kind word. Kim is very approachable and anticipates the needs of physicians and other staff.

Gary Hamlin, CBET (Certified Biomedical Equipment Technician), Clinical Engineering

Having worked at CMC/D-HK since 1992, Gary Hamlin has always been a solid performer and very responsive to the needs of the organization and staff members, with timely and quality service. Because of his experience, his calm, steady and friendly manner, and his ability to balance multiple priorities each day, Gary mentors new Clinical Engineering staff members. Gary believes that every work request is a priority to someone; he addresses each request quickly, providing an exceptional customer service model to all employees.

Leadership Award

The Leadership Award recognizes employees who demonstrate outstanding leadership qualities with excellence in caring, character, commitment, competence and communication.

Kimberly Farris, RN, Clinical Leader, Thompson Inpatient Unit

Kimberly Farris continually focuses on improving the patient experience, leading her team to improve processes to provide the best quality and compassionate care possible in the Thompson Inpatient Unit. She is highly reliable and dependable and is especially deserving of the Leadership Award due to her commitment and dedication to the patients, staff members, physicians, and the organization. The Thompson Inpatient Unit consistently focuses on improving the patient experience and is a reflection of the leadership, support, and guidance that Kim demonstrates.

Michele Penna, RN, Clinical Leader, Special Services

As Clinical Leader for Gastroenterology and Special Services, Michele Penna helps to keep everything running smoothly and effectively with true compassion, not only for the patients and families being served, but also for the staff members and physicians she works with. She is one of the first to arrive on any given day, preparing rooms and the unit for another busy day, and she is often one of the last to leave, writing reports, monitoring the budget or helping with a complex case late in the day. As CMC/D-HK is currently in the process of opening a new branch office in Peterborough, Michele is once again exhibiting the skill and leadership she is known for as she organizes this move.
