The best way to address this issue is with bone densitometry, a scan that measures bone density. The bone density scan along with identification of risk factors will allow your medical provider to determine your risk for osteoporosis and help guide you in prevention and treatment.
Bone densitometry and analysis are typically performed from a scan of the spine and hip and in some cases the forearm.
Contact your primary care physician to discuss your need for a bone density exam.
