Second Quarter 2013 Presidents' Service Excellence and Leadership Awards

Cheshire Medical Center/Dartmouth-Hitchcock Keene presented the Second Quarter 2013 Presidents' Service Excellence and Leadership Awards to outstanding staff members. The Presidents' Service Excellence Award recognizes employees nominated by their co-workers as those who exemplify extraordinary service to others characterized by compassion, courtesy, responsiveness to the needs of others and a positive team attitude. This prestigious award was given to Dawn Cole, LPN Scrub, Surgery, and Jillian Hartwell, Phlebotomist, Lab Phlebotomy.

The Leadership Award recognizes employees who exhibit outstanding leadership qualities as demonstrated by excellence in caring, character, commitment, competence and communication. Elaine Ball, GI Team Leader, Special Services, and Dawn Welshman, Interpreter Program Coordinator, received this award.

Quarterly Presidents' Service Excellence Award

Dawn Cole, LPN Scrub, Surgery
Dawn is incredibly hard worker and team player, often coming in early to work, staying late, and constantly helping others above and beyond her call of duty. Consistently demonstrating a positive attitude, she holds herself to the highest standard in regards to ethics and performance and is a strong advocate for her patients. She is dedicated, patient, kind, and serves as a knowledgeable educator to new staff.

Jillian Hartwell, Phlebotomist, Lab Phlebotomy
A dedicated team player, Jillian performs a wide range of job responsibilities in a busy department with compassion, commitment and a positive attitude. Caring for patients and working with colleagues across many departments and locations, she manages her workflow smoothly and efficiently, often serving as a resource to help coworkers regardless of how busy she is. Jillian is quick, efficient and knowledgeable in both phlebotomy and central processing and demonstrates her commitment to providing a positive patient care experience, making them feel at ease by explaining the procedure in detail and in a calm manner.

Elaine Ball

Elaine is recognized by her peers for her ability to lead others in a calm and respectful manner. 
Her position as Team Leader of GI Services requires her to closely monitor staffing requirements to meet the needs of our patients and the department. She has earned the admiration of her peers for her ability to be fair, dependable, compassionate, and hard working. Elaine is very knowledgeable in the field of gastrointestinal nursing and is frequently sought out to assist with complex cases. She possesses great skill in communicating with patients in explaining procedures, answering questions to manage concerns, and using appropriate humor to help alleviate anxiety.

 

Dawn Welshman, Interpreter Program Coordinator
Dawn's enthusiasm, dedication and expertise support our staff and limited-English, deaf and hard-of-hearing patients. She serves as an educator and guide for all staff in identifying appropriate resources to communicate effectively with patients.

Quick to help when needed, she serves as an American Sign Language interpreter for patients and companions, and supports patient relations needs, as well. Dawn has become well known in our community and is an integral part of our organization.
