Keene Hospital Welcomes First Baby 2013
January 03, 2013
Cheshire Medical Center/Dartmouth-Hitchcock Keene (CMC/DHK) extends a warm welcome to the first baby of the New Year 2013! The beautiful baby boy was born January 2, 2013 at 11:46 a.m. in the CMC/DHK Women and Children's Health Unit.
Mom Paulinna is happy to have her healthy baby boy of 6 lbs., 1 oz. and 19-1/4" tall and can't wait to introduce him to his cousins who are eagerly looking forward to a visit when he is home. This is Paulinna's first child. He came quickly once labor started, making the drive to the hospital a bit anxious. "Everyone at the hospital was awesome," said Paulinna. "Sarah Ellsworth (Certified Nurse Midwife) and the attending nurses were wonderful; the nurses were with me the whole time."
Cheshire Medical Center/Dartmouth-Hitchcock Keene's Department of Obstetrics/Gynecology offers care for women from the beginning of their reproductive lives through and after menopause. Specializing in women's health, staff members offer a wide range of innovative gynecological and obstetric services and treatments with a commitment to listen, to educate, and to offer choices. We believe in empowering women in their individual choice for birthing options, while keeping the health and safety of the mother and her baby in mind. From the moment a laboring woman enters our facility, every effort is made to make her birthing process special, comfortable, and safe for her, her baby, and the people who come to provide support.
The Birthing Center provides a comfortable home environment for laboring assisted by physicians, midwives and Doulas with a wide range of pain management medications as well as methods that address physical, emotional, and medical comfort including the use of massage, breathing, visualization, rocking chairs, gym balls, music, Reiki, heated rice socks, and water therapy. We offer emotional support for the family, one-on-one nursing care and a personalized labor and delivery area. We encourage moms to breastfeed and offer education and support for breastfeeding. Our lactation specialists provide lactation support 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Moms and babies are together right after birth to begin their mother/child bonding that is so important to their health.
