Calendar Sales Support Pulmonary Rehab Programs
November 05, 2012
Cheshire Medical Center/Dartmouth-Hitchcock Keene (CMC/DHK) is once again offering for sale to the community the "New England Reflections" calendar with photos by Jeffrey Newcomer, MD, Pulmonologist at CMC/DHK. Proceeds of sales from the calendar benefit the Pulmonary Rehabilitation Program, which helps those diagnosed with lung diseases understand their disease and function more comfortably and independently.
Calendars are available for sale for $15 each and can be purchased online at: http://CHFGivePulmRehab.kintera.org, at Elliot's Wish Gift Shop at Cheshire Medical Center/Dartmouth-Hitchcock Keene, or locally at selected gift and speciality shops.
The annual fundraiser underwrites reduced and no cost participation in pulmonary rehabilitation. Pulmonary Rehabilitation helps individuals with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), emphysema, chronic bronchitis, asthma, pulmonary fibrosis, and other chronic lung diseases. Through a series of 24 sessions, a range of specialists offer information and assistance on using oxygen, inhalers, and medication. Participants learn ways to manage shortness of breath by retraining their breathing and conserving energy. The program also helps people build lung capacity through aerobic conditioning and strength training.
Most participants in Pulmonary Rehabilitation are referred by a physician. For information on Pulmonary Rehabilitation, contact Farnum Rehabilitation Services at 603-354-6730.
The calendar images were selected to capture the character of the region throughout the four seasons. Samples of Newcomer's photography are available on his website at: partridgebrookreflections.com.
