Bald is Beautiful 2012 Thank You

June 07, 2012
Keene, NH

The fourth annual Bald is Beautiful (BIB) was held on May 5th at Walier Chevrolet. Over $31,000 was raised to directly benefit our Norris Cotton Cancer Center Kingsbury Pavilion cancer patients through the Patient Relief and Cancer Care Funds at Cheshire Medical Center/Dartmouth-Hitchcock Keene. These funds provide for basic living needs of our region's cancer patients and support the purchase of gas cards to get to and from treatment, funds to help pay for prescriptions, heating assistance, grocery cards, etc. and other items that help make receiving treatment at the Kingsbury Pavilion more comfortable. There were 87 BIB participants (73 who shaved their heads), 638 donors and 33 volunteers! We thank everyone who attended, donated and participated!

Special thanks to Mary Jane Doody of MJD & Co Hair Designs and her staff for donating their day to "shave heads", and to Joe Walier and Walier Chevrolet for hosting the event. Thank you to the following individuals and organizations for their incredible contributions: CVS/pharmacy, Savings Bank of Walpole, Laurie McDonagh Photography, Monadnock Radio Group, Paul Mitchell of Northern New England, Little Stitches, The Monadnock Quilters Guild, "Banner Dave" and Steve Hooper. Additional thanks to Keene High School for hosting their own version of Bald is Beautiful on April 30th, raising over $2,000.

Donations can be made to the Cheshire Health Foundation/Bald is Beautiful, 580 Court St, Keene, NH 03431. Cheshire Medical Center/Dartmouth-Hitchcock Keene celebrates our patients for their strength and courage, congratulates all BIB participants for their inspiration, and thanks our staff for their dedication to our nonprofit hospital and clinic and the patients we serve.
