(Keene, NH) Cheshire Medical Center, a Dartmouth-Hitchcock Health affiliate recently presented the 2017 Annual President’s Service Excellence and Chairman’s Awards.

The President’s Service Excellence Award is presented for extraordinary service characterized by compassion, responsiveness to the needs of others and a positive, team-oriented attitude. The recipients of the annual President’s Service Excellence Award were: Ralph Jernberg, Safety and Security Officer, Michelle Miner, RN, Pediatric RN Care Coordinator, and Kin Rilling, RN, Family Medicine.

The Chairman’s Award recognizes a team or teams who work to continuously improve the quality of Cheshire Medical Center’s health services. Over the years, the Chairman’s Award has been presented to a number of deserving groups that improved operations or patient safety. This year the award went to the Emergency Department Sepsis
3- Hour Bundle Improvement Team.

The Sepsis Process Improvement Team consists of Harry Byrne, RN; Carrie Cocklin, MD; Linda Dionne, MT (ASCP); Claire Fabian, MD; Matthew Guiltinan, MD; Kurt Hanniger, RN; Gerard Kiernan, MD; Elisa Lafayette, PA-C; Angela Lefebvre, RN; David Lein, MD; Jessica Lussier, RN; Sharolyn Martin, RN; Andree Smith, RN; and James Suozzi, DO. This multidisciplinary team that included nurses, physicians, lab personnel, and quality improvement staff was formed to expedite the detection of sepsis in the Emergency Room. The Sepsis Team redesigned the Emergency Department processes to ensure that patients are screened for sepsis and appropriate labs and cultures are drawn promptly, with appropriate antibiotics and fluids administered quickly.
