CMC/DHK Announces Results of Fundraising Campaign and Naming of Emergency Department
December 21st, 2016
Cheshire Medical Center/Dartmouth-Hitchcock Keene (CMC/DHK) has announced that its Emergency Department (ED) has been named the “C&S Wholesale Grocers Emergency Department” in recognition of C&S Wholesale Grocers, Inc.’s leadership gift to the Medical Center’s Initiative for Community Wellness. The Initiative was launched in 2015 to raise needed funds for the redesign and renovation of the Emergency Department and the expansion of Healthy Monadnock, the community-wide health initiative.
“We are truly grateful for C&S Wholesale Grocers’ charitable support of our mission. Their generosity demonstrates their long-standing commitment and steadfast support of CMC/DHK and the community’s health care and wellness,” said Don Caruso, CEO/President, and Chief Medical Officer.
The Initiative for Community Wellness raised $2.3 million from over 400 individuals, businesses and foundations throughout the Monadnock Region and beyond. The donations included grants from the Hoffman Family Foundation, the Timken Foundation of Canton, Ohio, and the Putnam Foundation. “We greatly appreciate the generosity of all of the donors to our Initiative for Community Wellness, our annual appeal, and our other fundraising initiatives which support our patients’ health and wellbeing,” Caruso said.
“We’re proud to support Cheshire Medical Center/Dartmouth-Hitchcock Keene,” said Rick Cohen, President/CEO and Chairman, C&S Wholesale Grocers, Inc. “Cheshire’s medical teams provide expert care to people in the region, including to our employees and their families. Their vision and work toward making this area the healthiest in the nation is inspiring.”
Over its 125-year history, beginning when John Elliot donated his family’s estate for Keene’s first community hospital, CMC/DHK has received and honored transformational gifts from donors such as Viola Thompson, the Kingsbury family and the Hubbard family in recognition of their outstanding support of its mission.
“We are honored that C&S Wholesale Grocers chooses to continue the 125-year tradition of community support,” said Jim Putnam, Chair, Cheshire Health Foundation Board of Trustees. “C&S’ generosity is impacting the Medical Center’s health and wellness mission.”
“With philanthropy’s increasing importance to the sustainability of healthcare organizations, namings for business entities is a growing trend at medical facilities across the country.” said Caruso. “I invite the community to join me in extending our gratitude to C&S Wholesale Grocers and to all donors who make such a difference by supporting our ability to serve our patients, ensuring there is access to exceptional medical care close to home.”
