Tribute Event to Honor Community Members Committed to the Health of our Region

Bob Englund, MD, and Bob Rooney, Sr. to be honored on November 12, 2016

(Keene, NH) –Cheshire Health Foundation has named the honorees for the 4th annual Caring, Candlelight and Community: Celebrating Our Healthcare Legacy event. Bob Englund, MD, of Nelson, NH and Bob Rooney, Sr., of Keene, NH, will be honored at the event on November 12, 2016. The evening is a celebration of the commitment and dedication they have made to the health and wellness of our region.

Bob Rooney, Sr., exemplifies service, compassion, and leadership. Bob’s exhaustive support of the health and wellbeing of the greater community includes membership on several boards and councils, through which he has earned a reputation as a thoughtful and skilled leader. He is highly regarded for his commitment to Monadnock Family Services, both as a retired board member and as a former acting CEO. Bob has devoted countless hours to a myriad of nonprofits, including Home Healthcare Hospice & Community Services and the Monadnock United Way. His tenure on the Cheshire Medical Center/Dartmouth-Hitchcock Keene Board of Trustees spans three terms dating from 1998-2007 as a member, vice chair, and then board chair. Bob is a member of the newly formed Cheshire Health Foundation Board of Trustees.

Bob Englund, MD, leads a life that portrays civic-mindedness. The former Peace Corps volunteer began his career at the Keene Clinic in 1976 where he practiced internal medicine until his retirement from CMC/DHK in 2011. Bob has remained connected to the Medical Center as a member of the Council of Advisors. His community leadership includes: former Keene City Councilor; past board member and co-chair of the Keene Family YMCA Capital Campaign; current board member at Monadnock Family Services; and advocate for the Green House model of nursing home care in Keene. He continues to use his medical training and compassion to provide support at Cheshire County Jail, where Bob makes himself available to inmates to answer medical questions.

This elegant dinner, hosted at the Keene Country Club, features special presentations recognizing the dedication and contributions these two outstanding citizens have made to the community.
