Sports Medicine 5k Announces Field Limit For Runners On Saturday, April 16th

Cheshire Medical Center/Dartmouth-Hitchcock (CMC/DHK) hosts the 9th Annual Sports Medicine 5K Run/Walk & Kids’ Fun Run on Saturday, April 16th, 2016.  This year the field for the popular 5K RUN is limited to the first 300 registered runners. The run portion of registration will be closed once the field limit is met. The 5K walk does not have a Field limit.  Pre-event registration is $20. Registration April 13 through 16 is $30.  Paper entry forms must be postmarked by Monday April 11th.  Online registration is available until April 12 at 11:59 p.m. The first 250 to register for the 5K Run or Walk receive a free T-shirt. The Kids’ Fun Run is free and every child receives a participation medal. New this year, Granite State Racing Services LLC will chip time the 5K Run. The walk is self-timed. People of all ages and fitness levels are invited to participate, including: children, walkers, and elite runners. Please keep your pets at home, service animals are allowed. Strollers, baby joggers, and wheelchairs are welcome during the 5K walk only. Check-in begins at 8 a.m., rain or shine, at the West Entrance of CMC/DHK at 580-590 Court Street. The event kicks off at 9 a.m. with the half-mile Kids’ Fun Run for children ages 10 and under. Walkers begin at 9:30 a.m., and the 5K Run begins at 11:00 a.m. The USA Track & Field Certified 5K race course starts and finishes in the hospital’s rear parking lot and follows the bike path to Wheelock Park and back.  Award presentations will follow the race.

All proceeds benefit patients of the Sports Medicine program at CMC/DHK with up-to-date rehabilitation equipment, concussion testing, supplies to prevent and treat injuries, and local Sports Medicine education. Your generosity helps keep our community active and healthy.

Sports Medicine is collaboration between the Orthopaedics Department and the Farnum Rehabilitation Center.  It provides state-of-the-art preventive, diagnostic and treatment modalities at one convenient location. Alongside orthopaedic surgeons, is an interdisciplinary team of physical therapists, athletic trainers, occupational therapists, dietitians, and nursing staff, specializing in the care and treatment of sports-related injuries.
